IPL 2020: Top 8 Uncapped Players Who Can Be A Star In Their First Ever Season.

It is that time of the year again, a bit unusual this time but the biggest Cricketing League is all set to commence from September 19th and will feature some top cricketing stars from around the globe. From the very first edition, the IPL has been the perfect platform for numerous youngsters from the country to express themselves to the global audience. Once again, for the 13th edition of Indian Premier League, some big local talents attracted big bids in the auction. Meanwhile, we are all again going to witness some life changing moments of young and local talents at the big stage, who will take the opportunity and may go to become the future stars for the country.

Let's take a look at top 8 Uncapped Indian players, who might go and be a match winner in their debut season.

1. Devdutt Padikkal (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

The Karnataka opening batsman was bought by Royal Challengers in the 2019 IPL auction for the base price of INR 20 lakhs. As he could not make his IPL debut last season, there is a good chance for us to see him for the first time in RCB colors this season.

He has been in red hot form from his first domestic season in white ball cricket. The 20 year old Karnataka opener was the leading run-scorer in both Vijay Hazare Trophy (609, average of 67.66) and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (580, average of 64.44, SR of 175.75), including a century and five half centuries during the 2019/20 season.

He is one of the players who is expected to reduce the burden of Virat Kohli at the top. With AB de Villiers taking the gloves, Padikkal is all set to start ahead of Parthiv Patel with Aaron Finch which will provide a good right-left combination at the top.

2. Ruturaj Gaikwad (Chennai Super Kings)

The right-handed top order batsman for India A and Maharashtra is an orthodox technically sound batsman who likes to play attacking and risk-free cricket. He was picked by Chennai Super Kings in the 2019 IPL auction at his base price of INR 20 lakhs. After a couple of good seasons with the bat, Ruturaj is likely to make his IPL debut this season.

He has been outstanding in List A cricket with highest runs by anyone for India A (843 runs in 15 innings) since 2018. He had a brilliant Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy season and ended up as the second leading run-scorer (419 in 11 innings) at a SR of 146.50 in the tournament.

After Suresh Raina pulled himself out of IPL 2020, Ruturaj Gaikwad is likely to be considered at number 3 position for the Chennai based franchise.

3. Virat Singh (Sunrisers Hyderabad)

The 22-year-old left-handed batsman from Jharkhand was bought by the Hyderabad based franchise for INR 1.90 crores at nearly ten times his base price during IPL 2020 auction. He has the ability to bat at the top order and finish the games for his team as well.

He had an excellent domestic season last year where he scored 343 runs in 10 at a SR of 142.32 and ended up as leading run-scorer for his team in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He was also the leading run-scorer for Jharkhand in Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he scored 335 runs in seven innings at an average of 83.75.

He is too good for any position in the shortest format of the game and seriously looks a brilliant option to make him play at 3 in absence of Kane Williamson. He hitted four 4s and four 6s in a finishing role given to him in a Sunrisers trial which helped to chase about 70 in six overs which made Sunrisers to bid for him at such a high price. Meanwhile, the team is looking at him to play the finishing role which will suit the dynamic left-hander’s game.

4. Ravi Bishnoi (Kings XI Punjab)

The 19-year old leg spinner from Rajasthan made his domestic debut last year where he played just six matches in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He was bought by KXIP for INR 2 crore where he will be under the guidance of the legend himself, Anil Kumble.

In the recent U19 World Cup, Ravi Bishnoi took 17 wickets from just six games and ended up being the leading wicket taker in the tournament.

Leg spinners always have an important role to play in the shortest format and with only Murugan Ashwin as another leg-spinner in the KXIP lineup, Bishnoi has everything going his way to start this IPL.

5. Abdul Samad (Sunrisers Hyderabad)

The 18-year old hard-hitting Jammu and Kashmir all-rounder, is only the fourth cricketer from his state to get an IPL contract. He was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for his base price INR 20 lakhs.

He came into limelight for the first time during a Vijay Hazare match against Gujarat where he scored a 52-ball 68 with seven sixes. He also finished with the highest number of sixes in the Ranji season 2019/20 by any player (36). He also scored some 40 odd runs while chasing 80 runs in 7 overs in his trials for Sunrisers which led them to pick him at the auction.

Abdul Samad is a handy leg-spinner, which can make his selection possible ahead of Virat Singh and Priyam Garg in the team. However, with three overseas batsmen at the top, SRH can use him in their middle order as he is a good striker of the ball against spinners and can be groomed as a good finisher.

6. Ishan Porel (Kings XI Punjab)

The Bengal medium fast bowler was purchased by the Kings XI Punjab for his base price INR 20 lakhs. Coach Anil Kumble said him as the perfect backup or even a best partner for Indian pacer Mohammed Shami. We saw him for the first time when he debuted for Bengal in 2017/18 Ranji season, just before his dream run at 2018 U19 World Cup.

The youngster came into limelight for the first time in his 4-wickets spell against Pakistan in the Semi Final of U19 World Cup where he ended up with a figure of 4/17 in 6 overs. He has been in brilliant form during his domestic season with Bengal where he took 23 wickets at an average of 18.95 in Ranji Trophy and bowled at an economy rate of 5.66 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

His ability to use his height and bowl sharp bouncers along with some early movement with the new ball, can be a big asset for KXIP along with Shami in the powerplay. Also his variations and extraction of consistent yorkers can make him the best option beside Jordan in the death overs.

7. R Sai Kishore (Chennai Super Kings)

The young slow left arm spinner is a rising prospect from TNPL, who also performed well in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Tamil Nadu last season. He used to be a net bowler for CSK and his performance in the domestic led CSK to pick him at his base price INR 20 lakhs.

He was the leading wicket taker in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019/20. He was a part of CSK pre-season net bowlers where he was smashed by MS Dhoni all around the park. Later, Harbhajan Singh advice during the nets made him come back stronger and also might have helped him to bowl in the domestic.

In the absence of Harbhajan Singh, he is a perfect option in the Powerplay for CSK. As he took 20 wickets for Tamil Nadu in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, 15 of them came in the powerplay.

8. Yashasvi Jaiswal (Rajasthan Royals)

The player of the tournament in the recent U-19 World Cup, Yashasvi Jaiswal is one of the biggest talents in the country, who has done everything right till now to go and become a global superstar for his country. The 18-years old opening batsman from Mumbai attracted bids from KKR and MI in the beginning with Royals ended up getting at INR 2.4 crores, 12 times his base price.

The young batting sensation has already scored a double-century in List A cricket and became the youngest to do it. He has six 50-plus scores at an average of 70.81 in 13 List A matches and was the leading run-scorer at this year's Under-19 World Cup.

He is likely to make his IPL debut as an opener beside Jos Buttler with whom he will be absolutely perfect to go after the bowlers in the powerplay. He might face some competition with Manan Vohra and Robin Uthappa to open the innings but will surely get to start whenever he plays.
