The most awaited tournament of the year, the IPL is all set to start from 19th of September 2020 in UAE and the final will happen on Sunday 8th of November 2020, BCCI officials said to PTI.

According to IPL GC Chairman, Brijesh Patel, the Governing Council will meet next week to take decisions on various terms like schedules. However, it seems like BCCI has already discussed with the franchises about the plan.

"IPL in all likelihood will start on September 19 (Saturday) and the final will be held on November 8 (Sunday). It is a 51-day window which will suit the franchises as well as the broadcasters and other stakeholders," a senior BCCI official told PTI.

According to an earlier speculation, the IPL was supposed to start from 26 September 2020. But now BCCI has decided to start it early by a week in order to make sure there is no problem to the Indian Team’s tour to Australia. Also Indian team have to go through a 14-day quarantine period after landing in Australia adhering to Government rules, therefore it is important to make sure there is no delay, which can create inconvenience to their tour.

The official also stated that BCCI will stick to their early plans to have five double headers in that 51 days window.

It is expected that the team will leave by August 20, which will give them at least a month to train and get themselves match fit.
