MS Dhoni will be leading Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming 13th edition of IPL and has not played any cricket for over a year now. He was supposed to come back with the IPL, which was about to start from 29th of March 2020 and unfortunately got suspended due to Coronavirus outbreak in the country.

But now MS Dhoni have a real opportunity to comeback into the Indian Team with the IPL starting from 19th of September.

At the moment it looks like the Indian selectors are going with Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul. If Dhoni has a wonderful IPL then he's away, but if he doesn't do well in the next IPL then perhaps his door is definitely shut. But, he's left the door open,” Jones said Times of India.

“His break might be fantastic for him. He has had a really good break and if he wants to come back out of this - trust me as you get older it gets more difficult to come back from a break,” Jones followed.

The Australian also stated about the lacks of proper finisher in the team. He insisted that Dhoni can help the Indian team in grooming a successor for him.

"He (MS Dhoni) is an absolute superstar. He is a 'great'. So, I have always felt, with the greats, to tend to let them do what they want to do, but at the moment they are leaning towards KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant. But, India' biggest problem is still a finisher. Who is your finisher? Hardik Pandya - yes. Just comes down to your balance - who's hot and who's not." Jones said.

As the T20 World Cup is postponed and BCCI is using that window for IPL 2020 which will follow with a tour to Australia for the Indian team, the T20I series got zero chance to take place before the Test Series starting from 3rd December as Indian team have to go through a 14-day quarantine period after landing in Australia. However, India will play white-ball series in Australia after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, but the schedule are yet to be confirmed.

As a conclusion the questions remains, will Dhoni create an impact on the upcoming season of IPL for CSK? Will he make himself available during the selections?
