A BCCI Official told IANS that they are looking to plan a farewell match for Dhoni. They will have a talk with Dhoni coming days and will plan accordingly.

"There is no international series right now, maybe after IPL we will see what can be done because Dhoni has done a lot for the nation and he deserves all the respect. We always wanted to have a farewell match for him but Dhoni is a different player. He announced his retirement when nobody was thinking of it," the official told IANS.

After a day of Dhoni's retirement, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren had also made an appeal to BCCI to host a farewell match for the former Indian captain in his home soil Ranchi.

Former pace man, Madan Lal also gave his views on it.

"I would be really happy if the BCCI hosts a match for Dhoni. He is a legendary player and you can't let him go just like that. His fans would want to see him again in action," Lal told IANS.

IPL is happening in the UAE and everybody will be glued to their screens to watch him play. But the board can host a series in India too, so that people can see him live in the stadium (obviously after this pandemic gets over)," he further added.

Dhoni has not played any competitive match since team India's elimination from 2019 World Cup in July.

Dhoni announced his retirement at 19:29 pm, last Saturday via an Instagram post. It is surely unfair to both Dhoni being such a huge legend for Indian cricket and to his fans to not have a farewell match.

Currently Dhoni is with the CSK team in Chennai, preparing for the upcoming IPL.
